Job description

As a PhD candidate you will work in an European Environment, more specifically in the context of farmers demonstration activities and data collection from European projects. A description of the project is given below. You will receive a job opportunity of two years. This will possibly be extended.

You work 100% on the project in the framework of a PhD.

You work in an European context of networking and on the project work which focuses on EU data collection, data platforms, communication, education and dissemination activities and multi actor involvement.

You help with some specific tasks at the department of crop protection chemistry.

EURAKNOS is a project proposal to the RUR-15-2018 call: TOPIC: Thematic networks compiling knowledge ready for practice: ’Despite the continued funding of scientific projects, innovative ideas and methods from practice are not captured and spread, while also research findings are often not integrated into agricultural and forestry practice. It is essential to close the research and innovation divide and to act at EU level. National and sectoral Agricultural Knowledge and Innovation Systems (AKISs) are insufficiently connected to fully meet this challenge. More intense cooperation is needed between researchers, advisors and farmers/foresters to stimulate the exchange of knowledge in view of fostering economically viable and sustainable agriculture and forestry’. EURAKNOS will respond to this challenge by pursuing to connect AKISs in Europe, in particular to interlink thematic knowledge reservoirs, relevant OGs, focus groups, and related multi-actor H2020 projects in an EU wide AKIS.

Profile of the candidate

  • You have knowledge or strong interest in the EU project environment, and more specifically farming and forestry.
  • You have an interest in scientific communication and dissemination about agriculture and forestry research and demonstration activities.
  • You aim to get a PhD at Ghent University.
