Postdoctoral position in (yeast) cell biology

In the frame of a multipartner project, the Functional Biology group of the KU Leuven Biology Department, Belgium, is looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated and skilled postdoc to study the role of lysosomes, vesicular trafficking and lipid signaling in neurodegenerative disorders using yeast as model system.

The candidate will be responsible to coordinate, supervise and execute the research on the role of lysosomes, vesicular trafficking and lipid signaling in neurodegenerative disorders using yeast as model system. This includes the optimization and standardization of several assays, the documentation of different molecular signaling events and the study of several yeast phenotypic readouts. The candidate must also write reports, scientific articles and projects to obtain extra funding.

The Functional Biology group of KU Leuven is a dynamic team conducting high-level research on mechanisms underlying nutrient signaling, pH and calcium homeostasis as well as vacuolar and mitochondrial functioning. The team uses this knowhow to develop yeast models allowing to get fundamental insight in the pathobiology of a variety of human diseases with focus proteopathies that lead to neurodegeneration or cancer.
