The Swiss Federal Institute of Intellectual Property (IPI) is the federal government’s central point of contact for patents, trade marks, indications of source, design protection and copyright. We help innovators and creators to create value out of their ideas, thus promoting innovation, competitiveness, cultural diversity and social progress. We also offer worldwide patent and trade mark searches under the label ip-search.

We provide services in the field of intellectual property to our diverse customer base consisting of patent attorneys, industrial enterprises, individual inventors as well as education establishments and research institutions.

We are seeking to recruit immediately or by agreement a

’Digital native’ with a background as a scientist or engineer

Description

Have you recently finished your studies in pharma, natural sciences or process engineering and are ready for a new challenge? Do you want to rely on your background and broaden it every day with new ideas? An important part of what we do happens in the digital space using AI and semantic tools. As a digital native, you will feel right at home with our ever-evolving challenges.

We at the IPI are looking for a new colleague to assist us in innovating patent searching. Our offer to you includes a solid introduction to intellectual property and participation in innovating patent searching. Your daily business will be to research patents and other technical literature for - and in communication with - our clients. Your technical background will enable you to find information in specialised databases using dedicated search platforms. Your results, which you will put together into a consolidated report, will help decide if something is new, an emerging trend or a fiercly competitive sector in a given technology field. Part of your job description also includes constantly challenging our established search methodology, maximising the value of search results, and scouting for new tools.

Requirements


Our expectations of you include a solid background in natural sciences or engineering, a pronounced affinity towards digital technologies, and professional language skills in French, German and English (other languages are an asset). If you also have good interpersonal skills, are naturally curious and are open-minded, we would really like to meet you.
