DescriptionPostdoc in machine learning in echocardiography The postdoctoral researcher will use the hospital information system (HIS) and its PACS to retrieve data from a large cohort of patients (200.000) with systolic/diastolic heart failure in order to predict major adverse cardiac events (MACE) using AI approaches. The project will be executed in close collaboration with clinicians as to address the most relevant clinical questions. Next to his/her own research activities, the postdoc will be involved in supervising 3 PhD candidates in their (AI-related) research projects and some teaching activities. The lab on cardiovascular imaging and dynamics (CVID) of the department of cardiovascular sciences at the University of Leuven has a longstanding tradition in the development of novel ultrasound imaging approaches of the heart. As such, it has played a pioneering role in cardiac strain imaging and is at the frontline of cardiac high frame rate imaging and its application in different clinical scenarios. At present, it is looking for a postdoctoral researcher to strengthen the team. The project will be followed-up by prof. D’hooge of the Lab on Cardiovascular Imaging & Dynamics of the department of Cardiovascular Sciences of the University of Leuven (?url=www.kuleuven.be&module=jobs&id=2662" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">www.kuleuven.be). Daily activities will take place in the Medical Imaging Research Center (MIRC), a multi-disciplinary research institute where around 100 researchers work on fundamental and translational research in the area of medical imaging and image processing.
