Job description

  • You will be working in the research group Medicinal Chemistry to synthesize and characterize novel assets for non-tubercular mycobacteria (NTM) and resistant tuberculosis. You will contribute to the different stages of hit-to-lead starting from high quality, validated hit compounds; lead optimization and late lead optimization towards a New Molecular Entity (NME).
  • You will be working closely together with the other members of the IMI consortia RespiriTB & RespiriNTM to identify new solutions in the fight against the deadly bacteria Mycobacterium tuberculosis, M. avium and M. abscessus.
  • You will write project reports for your supervisor on a regular basis, write scientific papers and contribute to the collaboration within the consortia.

Profile and requirements

  • You hold a doctorate degree (PhD) in Chemistry or Pharmaceutical Sciences with experience in synthetic organic chemistry and/or medicinal chemistry.
  • Your academic qualities comply with the requirements stipulated in the university’s policy .
  • You co-supervise PhD candidates.
  • You are quality-oriented, conscientious, creative and cooperative.
  • You have strong communication skills.
  • You are fluent in academic English (speaking and writing).

We offer

  • an appointment as a postdoctoral researcher for a period of one year, with a possibility of renewal upon positive evaluation;
  • the date of appointment: February 1st, 2020;
  • a full time net monthly grant ranging from ¤ 4.134,93 - ¤ 6.446,00;
