About SFIVET The Swiss Federal University for Vocational Education and Training SFUVET is Switzerland’s expert organisation for vocational education and training. It offers basic and continuing training to VET professionals, conducts VET research, contributes to the development of occupations and supports international cooperation in vocational and professional education and training. It has regional campuses in Zollikofen near Bern (main campus), Lausanne and Lugano as well as off-campus space in Olten and Zurich.

As part of the "Partnering up Europe: Transnational strategic partnerships in the European model of education and training (ParEdu)" project, funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF), in the division Research & Development in Zollikofen, we are looking for a

Senior Researcher (Postdoc) 60-100%

Duration of employment 1.5 - 2.5 years depending on the degree of employment

Description

  • Conducting personal and collaborative research activities within the project
  • Developing your own research profile
  • Transferring results by means of publications and presentations
  • Cooperating in the implementation and organization of the research project
  • Cooperating with the members of the Swiss Observatory for Vocational Education and Training OBS SFUVET and national and international partners

Requirements

  • PhD in a relevant discipline (e.g. educational science, political science, sociology, economics, history)
  • Motivation to conduct innovative, interdisciplinary, application-oriented and theoretically sound research. Experience with qualitative research methods (e.g., expert interviews, content analyses)
  • Interest in researching current challenges for stakeholders in the education system (e.g., digital and ecological transitions, social inequality) and corresponding European policies (e.g., European Centres of Vocational Excellence, European Universities Initiative, European Skills Agenda)
  • Very good knowledge of English and good knowledge of one Swiss national language (German, French, or Italian)

ParEdu examines the latest developments in European education policy and their implications for stakeholders in national and local education systems. It is possible for the successful candidate to work from home within the framework of the SFUVET guidelines. If the employment contract commences after 1 October 2024, the duration of employment may be slightly shorter.
