30 Years of the CRC: From a Protected to an Empowered Childhood Conference

Wouter Vandenhole and Dr. Gamze Erdem Türkelli from the Law and Development Research Group participated in the From a Protected to an Empowered Childhood? Conference hosted at KULeuven on 21-22 November 2019, commemorating the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the CRC. Gamze Erdem Türkelli delivered the introductory talk of the conference on “30 Years of the CRC: From a Protected to an Empowered Childhood”. Wouter Vandenhole led the closing panel discussion on the “Next 30 Years of the CRC”.

On the same occasion, the book Children’s Rights: A Commentary on the Convention on the Rights of the Child and its Protocols (Edward Elgar, November 2019) co-authored by Wouter Vandenhole, Gamze Erdem Türkelli and Sara Lembrechts was launched.

The conference was co-organised by the KULeuven Centre for Ethics, the Leuven Centre for Global Governance Studies, Ghent University Human Rights Centre and University of Antwerp.
