IUPAC-Solvay International Award for Young Chemists for Dr. Bolea-Fernandez

The International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry and Solvay announced the winners of the 2018 IUPAC-Solvay International Award for Young Chemists, presented for the best Ph.D. theses in the chemical sciences. Dr. Eduardo Bolea-Fernandez from the Atomic & Mass Spectrometry - A&MS research unit of the Department of Chemistry (Faculty of Sciences) has been selected as recipient of a IUPAC-Solvay International Award for Young Chemists, presented for the best PhD theses in the chemical sciences, as described in 1000-word essays. Eduardo carried out his PhD research at Ghent University and successfully defended his PhD, entitled "Method development for ultra-trace elemental and isotopic analysis using tandem ICP-mass spectrometry (ICP-MS/MS)" last year. The award selection committee, chaired by Professor Natalia Tarasova, IUPAC Past President, comprised members of the IUPAC Bureau and a senior science advisor from Solvay, all of whom have a wide range of experience in chemistry.
