Le podcast fait partie d’un projet de recherche financé par le FNRS, intitulé « Bearing Witness to Traumatic Experiences: Cultural Productions of Uyghurs in Exile ».
Ce podcast transporte les auditeurs et auditrices au coeur d’entretiens réalisés avec des artistes ouïghours. Il offre une palette diversifiée d’expériences, des États-Unis à l’Asie centrale, de la poésie au cinéma, du rap à l’art visuel.
Dans le premier épisode, la chercheuse parle des défis auxquels font face les réalisateurs ouïghours en exil pour produire des films. Autour du micro : Mukaddas Mijit, chercheuse et réalisatrice du film "Nikah", ainsi que Memetjan Semet sur son prochain long métrage "Waiting for the End". La série comprendra six épisodes en tout.

With Mamatjan Juma and Camilla Dilshat Uyghur visual artists are creating work to express the complexities of home, belonging, and identity in diaspora. In this episode we go to London and Virginia to visit two artists whose work is informed by their distinct experiences of memory, self, and reconnection.Mamatjan Juma talks about the role of art in the personal and the collective, and Camilla Dilshat shares about how her art is a way to explore a diasporic home.

Uyghur Art in Exile: Introduction
This project looks at the Uyghur diaspora and its cultural and artistic production that draw the world’s attention and bear witness to the various abuses perpetrated at home by the Chinese government.This season we are hearing stories about Uyghur art. Uyghur stories is hosted by Mukaddas Mijit, Sonya Imin and Vanessa Frangville, and is produced by the Uyghur art in exile project WEghur Stories is made possible with the support of the Belgian Fund for Scientific Research and the Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB).

With Mukaddas Mijit and Memetjan Semet For Uyghur artists in the diaspora, creative engagement on the ongoing crisis of the Uyghur region has been a great challenge.In this episode we discuss how cinema can be a powerful way of telling Uyghur stories and how Uyghur film directors in the diaspora are trying hard to find ways to produce meaningful films.
