The University of Luxembourg strongly condemns the violent repression of public demonstrations in Iran as well as all aggression against students and academics who continue to peacefully demonstrate in universities, schools and cities in Iran.
-We express our solidarity to all women, men and children in Iran and around the world who are fighting for basic human rights. We also offer our solidarity to our Iranian students and staff who are experiencing this struggle from abroad and who worry about the security of their friends and relatives in Iran.", said University rector Stéphane Pallage.
-The University of Luxembourg is a place of freedom and inclusion. It is also a place of peace and solidarity. I feel it is important to speak out again, as silence is the enemy of freedom.", the rector underlined.
Ever since the tragic death on 16 September 2022 of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini, arrested for the way she dressed, many Iranians have embarked on a quest for more freedom. The University of Luxembourg has the highest respect for the courage of the Iranian people and calls to European authorities to provide safe refuge to those whose life is endangered.
