Echoes of the world: Memories of the Arab world

- EN - FR
In this new episode of Echoes of the World, historian and professor Jihane Sfeir explores the political stakes of memory in the Arab world. Between collective narratives, silences and forgetting, she deciphers how identities marked by exile and colonization are constructed and transmitted.

Voices against oblivion

In this latest episode ofEchoes of the World, we plunge into the heart of the political issues surrounding memory: what we choose to remember, what we don’t - and why.

Alongside Jihane Sfeir , historian, professor at ULB and founder of the Observatoire des Mondes Arabe et Musulman (OMAM), we explore how collective narratives are constructed and transmitted, and what these dynamics reveal about power relationships. We question the place of silences and omissions, and seek to understand how they shape the identities of peoples marked by exile or colonization.
